Artisan hands crocheting a raffia piece by hand
Zanatany Concepts

Our Story

“Zanatany” means child of the land in Malagasy — a name rooted in honoring traditional technique and the natural beauty of handmade materials.

Rooted in tradition

Our journey began with a simple discovery: the incredible skill of Madagascar’s artisan communities, who have perfected the art of raffia weaving over generations. Sustainably harvested raffia palm leaves are transformed into pieces that carry the mark of their maker — slight variations that prove they were crafted by hand, not machine.

Women at the heart of our craft

We partner directly with artisan cooperatives in Madagascar, providing stable income for rural families — particularly the women who are the backbone of raffia production. Every purchase supports not just an individual artisan, but an entire community that depends on this traditional craft.
